NOVUM COLLECTIVE is the Contemporary Christian collective of NOVUM RECORDS artists who are passionate about worship. Though each artist’s styles are different, their mission is the same - to witness God’s truth and beauty through art.

Community over competition.

This group of talented artists believe that working in collaboration generates better creativity. Through this collective, their goal is to have an outlet to serve the church by leading an experience of genuine worship through music and art.

Iron sharpening iron.

One benefit of the collective is the yearly “Songwriting Circle”, which involves a weekly songwriting exercise to various prompts over a period of a few weeks. The weekly assignments have ranged from using a random phrase like “never see the light of day”, to writing based off of a specific scripture verse. Songs are due every week, and are reviewed and critiqued by one another. This has helped everyone get outside of their comfort zone, strengthen songwriting skills, and even result in new great music. The fruits of this exercise have resulted in numerous releases, and examples include Rita West’s “Frame”, John Finch’s “In Your Light”, and Ashley Dean’s “Grafted”.

Family reunions that aren’t awkward.

Every year, NOVUM RECORDS hosts artists to gather for fellowship, songwriting, and prayer. We are aware there is a hunger for genuine community, and we are grateful to have created a space for people to share their work, receive support from one another, and create art without reserve.
